Dear Families,

Today begins our Book Fair! The grandparents will be able to take their grandchildren from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. and go read and buy books! Refreshments are also served. We are up to 80,000 minutes of reading – so it looks as if “Silly” will be spending a day at Villa Teresa School! She’s excited! Students can accompany their parents to purchase items from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Dec 5-8th.

Saturday was our first day of basketball with the CGSAA at Santa Fe Athletic Center – very nice facility! In the early stages after the Knights of Columbus acquired the building, it was their dream to have it be the center of activity for families with children of all ages. Saturday was a dream come true! Our Athletic Director, Rodney Shivers wants to know if any second, third or fourth grader basketball players have not heard from your coach yet. If not, please let him know so he can get you the contact information for your coach. His email is: rshivers@cox.net

It’s really hard to believe that next week is our Christmas program. All classes have been practicing. The attire is Sunday Best. All students are asked to be at McGuinness High School (801 NW 50th St) by 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13. We ask that each family help with program cost by offering $3.00. Our Christmas Programs are always a treasure that you will want to keep always. Lifetime Videos will be recording the program and DVD’s can be purchased for $20.00. An order blank will be sent home by the end of the week. Please make your checks to Lifetime Videos.

Our service project for this month is to collect toys. Please wrap your gift and indicate on the tag whether the gift is for a boy or girl and the age of the child who would enjoy the gift. The packages will be kept in your child’s classroom until December 16 – the day of our Advent Mass. We have a change in priests. Fr Long is not able to come. Our celebrant will be Fr. Rick Stansberry from Christ the King Catholic Church.

Immersed in Christ (Second Week of Advent)
Discovering the Good News

INVENTORY: What do you consider good news. What would really “make your day” if it happened right now? Stop. Think of what it is before you read further. How good would that news be? How good will it be a hundred years from now? Will you still be just as excited about it?
INPUT: Jesus is not like any other. Ultimately, we have only one Teacher. Anything we learn from others, if it does not come from him, has very limited value. There is only one Good News: the news that Jesus Christ has come, is coming, and will come. Any other news is a distraction.
Scripture: Isaiah 40: 1-11; Mark 1:1-8; 2 Peter 3:8-14
INSIGHT: What difference is there – in experience, not theory – between the baptism of John and that of Jesus? Which is closer to my experience?
INITIATIVE: Use Advent to begin a serious plan of Faith Formation (“reiterated instruction combined with insistent intentionality”). This means we have to keep learning the truth while insisting that we (and others) live it out in action.
