Friday Notes
June 11, 2010

Dear Families,

We have finished the first week of Summer Program. The K-4th graders enjoyed Field Day with Ms Holder Thursday – lots of fun activities! Our smaller aged students have been tossing balls, drawing pictures of their favorite sport, and playing all kinds of games. Our entertainer this week was Mr. Gary Hoeffken who came as a Westerner. Next week is our Vacation Bible School Week, each day will be devoted to prayer and learning various Bible Stories. The week will conclude with a prayer service.

We’re celebrating our Fathers this week – Either Wednesday or Thursday, dads can come and eat with their 2 ½ , three and four year old students. Depending on your availability, you may swim with your child (check the swim schedule to make sure it’s a day they swim). K-4th grader’s dads or uncles, or grandfathers can come Friday and swim at their regular time. We want you to know how important you are! Know you are in our prayers!

It’s a new term and perhaps you do not know, but to park or pull up in our fire lanes could get you a ticket!!!! It’s very dangerous for our little ones who sometimes slip away from parents and backing out where you shouldn’t be could end up in tragedy. I have instructed those who express concern to take down tag numbers so I will be able to talk with you directly about it. This past year, we were fortunate that the police department bore down on several offences – illegal parking, u-turns, parking in the fire lanes, several offences. You never know when they are around and by the time you find out it’s too late! Truthfully though, I’d rather them ticket than for us to be picking up an injured person.

The Archdiocese requires us to inform you of procedures involving the safety of our children. Since so many of you are new and this is a new quarter, please note the following: “For the safety of children and the healing of victims, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City provides an Abuse of Minors Pastoral Response Hotline. Calls to this number will be answered by the Archdiocesan Assistance Coordinator who will offer to meet with the callers in person, if the caller so desires. Calls are confidential, with the following exceptions:
• Any allegation of sexual or physical abuse or neglect concerning those who currently are minors must be reported to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (1-800-522-3511)
• Any allegation of sexual misconduct must be shared with the proper authorities.”

Our PTO is hold a summer meeting for families interested in chairing or co-chairing a committee during the 2010-2011 school year on June 29 at 5:15 p.m. Pizza and childcare will be provided.

Immersed in Christ (The Eleventh Sunday of the Year)
The First Law of Ministry

INVENTORY: Does God ever “give up” on us? Does anything make God turn away from us in disgust? Are we ever justified in turning away from each other? How does the Eucharist fit in to the answer we give to this question?

INPUT: The basic message of the readings in this Mass is that God never turns away from his people or from any individual person. The Psalm encourages us to go to God no matter what we have done, because God will never desert or despise us.
Scripture: 2 Samuel 12: 7-13; Luke 7: 36 – 8:3; Galatians 2:16 – 21

INSIGHT: Do I judge myself and others by past works or by present evidence of graced faith, hope, and love?

INITIATIVE: In ministry, be guided by Jesus’ words to Peter: “If you love me, feed my sheep!”
