Summer Friday Notes
June 26, 2009
Dear Families,
It is hot!!!! And the temperature is going higher – with this in mind, know we are taking precautions with your little ones by not playing outside after lunch. Remember next Friday, July 3, we are closed – celebrating the legal holiday of July 4th. On Thursday, we will have a parade! The children have all been making beautiful decorations and love going around the campus and through the convent for our older sisters to join in the festive spirit celebrating our freedom.
Next week is day care week, and as announced last week, the students can no longer bring mechanical games – only board games or models or dolls they can keep monitor.
We have a couple of Friday events that will warrant a fee – on July 10th ($2.00) and July 17th ($1.00). This applies only to those in K, and Groups A, B, and C.
This morning, we had Wiley Post from the Oklahoma History Center. He was fantastic as he took us back to 1935 and shared his love of machines and how he flew around the world with Will Rogers. The students were very attentive and learned a lot about following one’s dream and working to be the best you can.
From July 1 – 13, I will be on vacation – yahoo! In my absence, Sr. Joseph Marie, assisted by Sherri, our secretary will be available if you should have questions. I do check in periodically to make sure things are going smoothly.
In July, we have several events – the most fun one is our Family Night on Thursday, July 23. It’s a POT LUCK so watch for future announcements as to what you can bring to help make the party a great one! We hope you put this on your calendar now so you won’t forget. It is a great opportunity to come and meet parents and teachers. Our new families coming in the Fall, as well as teachers will also be invited. Mark your calendars for July 23 at 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. We can start now praying for a cool front.
Parents of boys going into first grade through fourth grade are invited to a special meeting to organize our Boy Scouts for the coming year. As you are aware we lost our dear Cub Master, Keith Waken in a tragic accident. We need a person or team of persons to take his position – we will have some help from the council to help shadow and train our future scoutmasters. The meeting will be Wednesday, July 22 at 5:15 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Ministry as a Way of Life
INVENTORY: Is ministry power? If so, what is this power and how do we get it?
INPUT: God is the strength of his people. In him, we his chosen live in safety. Scripture show God’s majesty revealing itself as ministry. The awesome Creator of the universe puts himself at our service, and then comes to live in us to put us at the service of others.
Scripture: Job 38:1-11; Mark 4: 36-41; 2 Corinthians 5:14-17
INSIGHT: How do I feel about calling myself a priest? (minister) What does this mean to me?
INITIATIVE: Resolve to minister as Christ by letting Jesus express himself through you.
