Friday Summer Notes

June 5, 2009

Dear Families,

We’ve finished our first week! How hard to believe! I bet the summer will just zoom and before we know it we’ll be planning for the fall. Actually we are already doing so. We have a little left-over business from the school year. We want to congratulate the following for completing their 20 + volunteer hours: Lisa and Kevin O’Nan, Tinker and Juliette Hulen, Hollie Niblett, Elbieta and Marcos Chavez, Ed and Cristie Pendleton, Suji and Thirai Jayasekar, Kelly and Tony Goebel, Natasha Vinson, Cheryl Homen, and Helena Duke.

Thanks for all your prayers for Shannon Waken and her two children, Sam and Anna in the loss of Keith Waken, our Cub Master. The funeral will be held in Enid, Oklahoma this Saturday. Please also keep in your prayers the mother of Ms Hope, our 2 ½ year old teacher and the cousin of Ms Marilyn, one of our teachers in the three year olds who was injured in a four wheeler accident.

Mr. Watley began our Martial Arts classes this week and it is becoming a full house – full of eager students.

This week, the children explored their imaginations with fantastic art projects and various ways where in these days of technology is often lost to video games and other arcade type games.

We are encouraging the students to be responsible – so they are asked to take their book bags to their lockers and especially when changing into swimsuits to make sure their clothing and objects are placed in their pans.

Thank you for your contributions for our project this month, “Autism Speaks”. There are about 30 of us who will walk in Jimi’s League on Saturday morning. If you would like to join us, people can sign in beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk actually begins at 10:00 a.m.

Next week from Tuesday to Friday, I will be participating in a workshop for ‘Great Expectations’ training. It’s an awesome program that several of our teachers have had training in. I hope eventually that all our teachers receive the benefits of learning about the program.

Mark your calendar, Dads! Monday and Tuesday of June 22, 23 you are invited to come swim with your little one. We are using two days due to the fact that our LC 3 and LC 4 have a rotation of MW, TTH scheduling. You may want to check the front bulletin board in the main school to know when your child swims. You are also invited for lunch if your child swims close to lunchtime. Happy Fathers’ Day!

Next week is Vacation Bible School Week. Our theme is “Discover God’s Promise”.
