Principal's Notes: March 3, 2008

March 2, 2008

Dear Families,

The principals in Region 10 met in Dallas last week and it was very inspiring to hear once again Sr. Claire Fitzgerald (who had also given our Fall Inservice). She is such a gift to the Church and in her ministry to set ‘fire’ to those who seek to build the Kingdom. There were 240 of us present in the midst of a facility that was host to several groups. It is good to be back and implement what has been given.

As we approach Spring Break and Holy Week, let us remember that we continue to walk with each other and Christ is in the midst of us as we companion Christ on the Journey.

I was happy to see many of you registering for the summer as well as next fall. Remember after March 17, the invitation extends to those on our waiting list, you may want to come soon. Report cards are given out this Friday.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 12 – our Open House. There will be many activities and time for you to get an overview of our curriculum – looking forward to your next academic year – our 75th anniversary year.  Ms Herd, our first grade teacher, will be assisting our after school program next year with dance featuring tap, and hip hop. We welcome this addition to join our present guitar and piano lessons.

This Thursday, our third and fourth graders will represent us in the PPARTS Arts Festival as will about ten students who will have art on exhibit. The students will sing their School Song in the choral division and dance the Irish Jig in the dance division. There are only two schools dancing this year- Bishop McGuinness and Villa Teresa School.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday, we will have pictures taken and these will go into our year book. On Wednesday, our K –4th grade students will need to come in full uniform.

We need more Baseball players! And coaches! I know the first phrase from your heart would be – “I know nothing about baseball (or teeball).” The  PCAA will host training sessions. Please contact Tony Hooper if you can help (317-5495).

Everyone is invited to our PTO Meeting this Thursday, March 6  (5:30 p.m.) and the auction meeting following. Our first grade classes are entertaining. Remember, next week is Spring Break, day care only is provided.

CONVERSION TO BEING DIVINE

INPUT:  In the Opening prayer we ask to be like God: “Father, help us to be like Christ your Son.” We are the risen body of Jesus on earth. It is in and through us that he is winning the battle against evil today. What do I need to do to let him act and win through me?

Scripture: Ezekiel 37:12-14  “I will open your graves and have you rise from them…I will put my spirit in you that you may live.”

Romans 8: 8-11   Living – ‘in the flesh’ and ‘in the Spirit’. This is the way we experience Jesus’ triumph and Jesus’ life in us: “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raise Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.” This is not just physical life: we will find that we “come alive” in faith, hope and love and can do Christ’s work in the world as his living body, enlightened and strengthened by his Spirit. Then we ourselves will be the visible proof of Jesus resurrection, because we will be living manifestly by his Spirit as his risen body on earth.

John 11:1-45 – The Raising of Lazarus from the dead

INSIGHT:  Do I live more by the “Spirit” or by the “flesh”? When have I experienced the light and power of the Spirit in me?

INITIATIVE: Read Scripture every day – even if only for five minutes – and let it challenge the attitudes and assumptions you grew up with.
