Monday Notes
April 21, 2008
Dear Families,
What beautiful spring weather we’re having! It was a perfect day for Saturday’s Track Meet – it was good to see so many participants and classmates to cheer our athletes on to victory! Our students did well – we are proud of all of them.
This coming Saturday is our auction, “A Mayan Holiday”. Make sure you look at the latest offerings on our blog: http://villateresaspringsoiree.blogspot.com
There are still some baskets that could use some help – Sr. Loan’s Restaurant Basket can use some gift certificates from various local restaurants. More items are also needed for the Spa, Basket, Cooking, and Scrap Booking. Remember what you bid on for these baskets go directly back into the classroom to assist in materials for your little ones. We really want more parents of present students to come and have a fun evening. By Wednesday, we will need to have your reservation so that we can order the food. Our caterer for the event is Swadley’s. You can pay in the office or at the door.
The Parenting Class last Thursday was awesome! If you should get this on Sunday afternoon – plan to come and stay. Tonight (Monday), Dr. DeGrace will be giving strategies for helping children to develop self regulatory and self management skills at home and in the classroom. The class begins at 5:15 p.m. and ends about 6:30 p.m. Childcare is available.
Registration is going well. If you are planning to come for the summer or next fall, please pay registration fees to assure your placement. We already have about 30 more for both seasons compared to last year.
We had a great celebration of our Mass last week with Fr. Jim Goin. Fr. Jim hadn’t been here for a while and really enjoyed the Mass. He, as so many other priests, say our little ones really pray well and are the best singers in the diocese. They are certainly full-throated and do attend well. They are used to praying and are to be congratulated on how well they take their prayer into the ‘marketplace’. Last Friday, our Four Year Olds had their Trike-a-Thon and tomorrow is the deadline for our Kindergarten – Fourth Graders to turn in their collections for the Math-a-Thon. Both of these events help children with terminal illness at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Immersed in Christ (Fifth Sunday in Easter)
INVENTORY: The entrance antiphon invites us to: “Sing to the Lord” because he has “done marvelous deeds” and “revealed his saving power”. What marvelous deeds of God have I experienced? How do I see his “saving power” revealed in the Church and in the world today?
INPUT: The Father is looking upon us with love and giving us true freedom. This is not just freedom from enslaving attitudes and values, but freedom to make personal choices that bring us to the inheritance God has promised. Our free, personal, creative, innovative choices in response to God’s word can be lifegiving and reveal God’s ‘saving power’ because the spirit is given to us to inspire them.
Scripture: Acts 6:1-7; 1 Peter 2:4-9; John 14: 1-12
INSIGHT: When have I seen Christ’s “saving power” revealed in my actions? In the life of the church” What can I do that is “greater than” what Jesus did?
INITIATIVE: Put your trust in Jesus dwelling and working within you, and have the courage to make decisions based on his truth that depend on his strength.
If you are getting this early enough, listen to KTOK at 3:00 p.m. (Sunday, April 20). Sr. Patricia Ann and I will be on to talk about the situation in Moore. The program is called, “Speak” and it’s all about ‘dogs’ (smile). They have been great supporters!
Friday, at 7:45 a.m. the Morning Show on Channel 25 will have a segment promoting our auction.
