Monday Notes

April 28, 2008

Dear Families,

Thank you so much for all that was accomplished for us to have a splendid  “Mayan Holiday” Dinner/Auction at St. Anthony’s St. Mary’s Conference Room. This was our 11th Spring Soiree and each year it gets bigger and better. Special Thanks to Jay Albertson who was our chairperson for this event. Many alumni parents came and look forward to coming each year. As always, our most exciting part of the evening is the auctioning of the classroom plates. Mrs. Hazelton did a wonderful job making those plates and its amazing what some families will bid just to see their child’s name in print! I’m not complaining!

Special thanks to all our committee chairs: Publicity: Michelle Foy; Acquisitions: Diana Bittle, Decorations for the tables: Sofia Brannon; Set-Up and Decorations: Jay Albertson;  Dessert Auction: Lisa Mosley and most assuredly, St. Anthony Hospital for allowing us to have St. Mary’s Conference Room. We are blessed to have our auctioneer, Jesse Teehee and his wife who arranged our meal from Swaddley’s Caterers. Next year, we may be able to use their new facility which will seat more people. We especially thank our volunteers who took care of the children so that parents could have a great evening. Thank you! Cindy Brown, Teresa Zamarron, Rosie Butler and Jacki Millspaugh.

May is going to be an extremely busy month with only two weeks of regular school, we then turn to our Fantastic Summer Program. This summer our theme is Summer Olympics with emphasis on China, the host country.

This Friday, May 2 is May Crowning. All children are asked to bring a flower. Our Fourth Graders are our prayer leaders for this very special ceremony. Markie Schirf will carry the cross, Nicholas Farmer and Christina Kidd carry our banners. Those carrying each class flag are Seth Sparkman, Faith Lewis, Cody Harding, Sara Swise, and from third grade  Madeline Thrush-Cooley, and Julianna Gorman.  Those third graders who will be carrying the trays to receive our flowers are Grace Vannarath, Sam  Waken, DeVonne Alexander, Juan Pena, Alex Martin, Evan Bostic. Our Crown  Bearer will be Juliette James and Ty Brown-Field will be crowning Mary.

We need your orders for the Yearbook by May 9th – if you would like to be included in the baby section, there is a special form that was sent home. It needs to be returned soon.

Pictures of our special events are welcomed.

If you have not registered and are planning to come for the summer and/or fall, please turn in your paperwork and registration fees.

Immersed in Christ (Ascension Sunday)

INVENTORY:  What does it mean to me that Jesus ascended into heaven? Does it have any influence on my life? On the decisions I make today?

INPUT: The Entrance to Mass calls us to wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This is an active waiting. We don’t just stand around waiting for it to happen; we are sent to make it happen. We are “good to go.”

SCRIPTURE:  Acts 1:1-11; Ephesians 1:17-23; Matthew 28: 16-20

INSIGHT:  Does the Ascension of Jesus inspire you now to let him live and continue his work in you? Does his promise of the Holy Spirit encourage you? Does it motivate you to any decisions?

INITIATIVE: Resolve to let Christ grow “to full stature” in you and dedicate yourself to a lifestyle that bears witness, so that you can help bring Christ to full stature throughout the human race.
