Monday Notes
August 23, 2010

Dear Families,
We made it!!!! The first week of school! Wasn’t it a lot of fun! I always enjoy the enthusiasm – and the heartfelt experience of parents seeing their little ones mark another milestone. Know you are in our prayers and we are so happy you have chosen Villa Teresa as your learning environment. Your children will learn much – but the most important lesson they will learn is that Jesus loves us and that we can embrace that gift of love and love each other.

THERE ARE SOME WHO PULL UP INTO THE FIRE LANE TO DROP OFF YOUR CHILD – THIS IS UNSAFE! FOR YOU AND FOR LITTLE ONES BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE AS YOU ARE BACKING OUT. The fire lane is to be clear at all times, we have police officers who regularly come by and ticket those not complying to such regulations. Several parents have volunteered to watch for tags of vehicles violating this important regulation, your tag number will be turned over to the authorities.

This week, we orientation meetings for First Grade, Monday, Aug 23 at 5:15 p.m.; Second and Fourth grade, Wednesday, Aug 25 at 5:30 p.m. and LC 4 on Thursday, Aug 26 at 5:30 p.m.

Looking ahead into September, we are planning to host Grandparents’ Day on three separate Fridays. An invitation will be sent this week, please respond as soon as possible so food orders are placed. Grandparents are invited to lunch on Fridays- LC 3 and 4 – Sept 3; Kindergarten and first grade – Sept 10 and 2nd , 3rd and 4th for Sept 24. On Friday September 17th we have an Archdiocesan Teachers’ meeting, the school will be closed and no day care.

The children were given packets for the Fall Fundraiser last Friday. Cookie Sales! Last year was very successful.

This Friday is a deadline day for several items. All the paperwork in your Parent Student Handbooks – it also is the deadline for ordering T-Shirts. You may place your order on-line off the PTO website (vtspto.com) or stop by the office.

If you are interested in our Sports’ program, there is a general meeting on Tuesday, Aug 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the School Cafeteria. Our sports’ program begins with students who are in LC 4 through 4th grade.

At the end of each Orientation Session, training for our Safe Environment program is given. In order for you to be a volunteer in our school you will need to go through this training. It includes watching the video, reading and signing the Code of Conduct and filling out a volunteer application which will be submitted for a background check. During your orientation session, the teachers will explain the curriculum your child will receive in their class sometime during the first semester.

diocesan Assistance Coordinator who will offer to meet with the caller in
person, of the caller so desires. The Assistance Coordinator will also assist
in making a formal complaint to the Archdiocese, arranging a personal
meeting with the Archbishop or his representative and in obtaining support
and pastoral counseling.
