Please remember in your prayers the soul of Hank Tiarks, former parent and first Soccer Coach
for Villa Teresa School, died Sunday, August 29, 2010
Dear Families,
We just got word of Hank’s passing – he had been the Soccer Commissioner for CGSAA for many years. It was so soon – his son and daughter, Brian and Maria are former students.
You should have received our calendar and menu for September. We had a little technical difficulty in sending, but re-sent in smaller dosages. September is full of activities.
I want to thank all of you who attended your classroom orientation sessions. These are very helpful in determining expectations, following guidelines and a forum for asking all those questions which cross your mind. I also want to thank those of you who helped with our first staff meeting in supervising the little ones.
Our first service project begins next week! Kindergarteners through fourth graders will be participating in the St. Jude’s Mathathon to help children with terminal illnesses. A permission slip will be going home Tuesday, September 7th. When you return the slip we can then order the workbooks and you can start getting donors to help raise money for research and medical equipment that will help children who need your help.
Thanks to all who returned the paperwork that was in your handbook. Those insertions are very important.
Our Cub and Girl Scouts begin their regular sessions in September. Girl Scouts meeting every Wednesday and Cub Scouts on the second and fourth Mondays. There is still time to sign up for Guitar, Violin (and Cello), piano and Cheerleading. Martial Arts will begin after Labor Day. Due to space, dance will only accommodate our younger aged students.
Our Fall Fundraiser- Cookie sales – looks as if they are going great! You can keep up with the progress on our PTO website - vtspto.com
Don’t forget we are closed on Labor Day (September 6). We are also closed on Friday, September 17th for an Archdiocesan Teachers’ Meeting.
We want to celebrate our Grandparents! Today was the last day for turning in your reservations if you are in LC 3 and LC 4. Their special day is this Friday, Sept 3. Kindergarten and First graders are celebrating, Friday, Sept 10 and 2nd, 3rd and 4th are having a special lunch for Grandparents on Friday, September 24.
We invite you to come and worship – Our first Mass for the school year is Friday, September 10, with Msgr Ed Weisenburger from Our Lady’s Cathedral. The Mass is at 9:00 A.M. Full uniform required.
Happy Birthday! Mrs. McKinley! This year we hope to honor our teachers in mentioning their birthday and ask that you pray for them especially on their special day. Mrs. Herd celebrated last Thursday.
