Monday Notes

January 4, 2010

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! It is good to be back to regular schedule. Our two weeks of daycare was delightful – very peaceful! Thank you for all your gifts at Christmas –  the lights and many acts of kindness. I shall most remember our first Christmas with lights in front of the school – I was so excited when the snow began to melt a little, I re-connected the lights to the little trees and manger set in front. Our children shared many toys with those less fortunate. What a blessing! The service project for January begins Jan 18. This month coordinates with Catholic Schools’ Week – we will be collecting baby items for Birth Choice. A table or two will be placed in front of the office after Jan 18.

If you have not had a chance to see the new look in the office – stop by! It’s like a whole new world! Mandy and Helena Garrett spent two days re-doing the walls and painting – it’s awesome!

Today, those of you who didn’t return the letters of intent will receive a second edition. Though not as official as actually registering, it helps determine the possibility of new classes or cutting classes. School enrollment is at present 249! We want to welcome Iris and Sofia Delahoussaye, Victoria Ososanya, and Misty Wang to our Villa Teresa family.

Report cards are given from the office this Friday for students in LC 4- fourth grade. Your payments must be current and students must be free of any overdue library books in order to receive cards.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 12 – PTO Meeting – plans are being made for the Spring Auction – don’t miss the committee meeting following PTO.

Many of you have ordered your Christmas Program DVD. If you’ve missed ordering we are putting in a last order. Checks ($15.00) made to Lifetime Videos must be turned into the office by this Friday.

If you are looking for volunteer opportunities, we could always use help with Cub or Girl Scouts. Our Faculty Meeting is Monday, Jan 25 from 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. Congratulations are in order for the following who have obtained their twenty hours: Robert and Mandy Young, Michael and Diana Pierre, Tina and Tai Duong, Kerry and Carol Alexander, Donna Nguyen, Nathan Hart and Melanie Stucky, Debi Scurlock, Trisha and Frank Angilillo, Jeff and Erika Moore, and Helena Garrett.

Our Catholic Schools’ Week is a week later this year, putting it actually February 1-5th. There are many activities. One activity you may want to market at work is our Community Open House. This event is for civic leaders, employers of parents, alumni(always) – anyone who may want to know more about Catholic Schools and Villa Teresa. An invitation will be sent soon. You are our best crusaders for Villa and we appreciate your sharing the good news!

We do have a daycare day on Martin Luther King’s Day. Our Mass this month celebrates our founder, Mother Agnes Cavanaugh, C.S.T. and also unites to the universal call for penance in regard to the denial of justice for the unborn, elderly and poor. The Mass for Peace and Justice will be offered by Rev Msgr Edward Weisenburger on January 22, at 9:00 a.m.

Immersed in Christ (Feast of the Epiphany)

Appreciating and Accepting Jesus as “Lord of all Nations” who brings the world together in peace

INVENTORY: Villa Teresa is a wonderful place to experience various cultures and nations. We are blessed with the reality of our Lord who is King of All Nations. How do we get to know each other?

INPUT: In the prayer, we ask God to “draw us beyond the limits which this world imposes, to the life where your Spirit makes all life complete.” More and more our cities are becoming multi-cultural. We are challenged, not just to tolerate, but to embrace diversity. We are invited to open ourselves gladly to the fullness of life, both human and divine, where God’s Spirit “makes all life complete.

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 60: 1-6; Matthew 2:1-12; Ephesians 3:2-6.

INSIGHT: We can rejoice in harmony with God’s Spirit when we not only say, “Lord, every nation on earth will adore you, but see it happening before our eyes.

INITIATIVE: How do we share traditions from our families and cultures with each other?
