Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
(Happy New Year)
Dear Families,
We celebrate the New Year of our Vietnamese brothers and sisters! The year of the dragon! Yesterday at the Cathedral it was a glorious celebration. This morning we had the Dragon Dance performed by both our 4th graders and our LC 4 students. Our second graders led us in a grand parade. Can’t wait for Mardi Gras!!!!
Last week, we had a very special guest to celebrate our students reading 100,000 minutes in one week! Silly, the clown, really enjoyed herself – and the students were so excited! All the next day, I kept getting from LC 3 students - why were you silly? That took some explaining – beyond just stating “I’m A Little Silly” is really my cousin (smile).
Attached to these Monday Notes are a preview of next week’s Catholic Schools Week – it will help you know what the children need to wear each day and what your homework assignment is ahead of time and for each day.
Beginning this Saturday, Jan 28, we are hosting Alliance Francois – French classes will be taught to 4 year olds to 5th graders. A flier was sent home Friday with contact information if you are interested. The hour classes are in two sets – from 10:00 – noon.
Faculty Meeting is today! Please come and help supervise students in you can. Other volunteer opportunities available soon are helpers for the Spaghetti and Sisters Dinner (decorating, serving and clean up), and watching classes while the teachers enjoy their luncheon on Staff Day (Tuesday, Jan 31) during Catholic Schools Week.
Boy Scouts Meeting is also today. Our Girl Scouts are beginning their orders for cookie sales.

Immersed in Christ (Fourth Week in Ordinary Time)
Reflection for Week of January 29, 2012 God Speaks to Us
INVENTORY: Do you ever ask for an interview with God? Do you think he would grant it?
INPUT: One reason we go to church – to become aware and keep ourselves aware of who we are, of what we are privileged to know; and of the ensuing possibility of praising God uniquely that makes it our duty to do so. It follows that we need to praise and serve the Father with the perfection of the Son. Our opening prayer asks that we serve God with our every desire and show love for one another as you have loved us. This is the greatest praise we can give to God.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 18:15-20; Mark 1:21-28; 1 Corinthians 7:32-35
INSIGHT: Why is every literate Christian obligated to read the word of God?
INITIATIVE: Decide when, where, and how long you will read from Scripture each day.
