Alleluia! He is Risen

Monday Notes

March 24, 2008

Dear Families,

Blessings of Peace and Joy this Easter season!  We still celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord! The season of Easter continues until Pentecost – the birth of the Church! So today as you pick up your little one they will still be talking about finding Easter eggs and hearing the Resurrection story in religion. An excellent way for you to continue this most gracious season is to treat yourself to attending the Proclamation of  the Gospel of John by Michael Reardon. In an extra communication last week, I gave the dates. The times however show the start to be at 6:30 p.m. (most likely to accommodate students so they can attend also). He is performing at St. Eugene’s on April 2; Epiphany on April 9 and at St. Francis on April 15. There is a reception afterward. He loves visiting the children at Villa Teresa – so I expect he will come and do sessions in the classrooms.

Thanks for those who are signed up for baseball – we appreciate parents who have the time and enjoy helping to coach and just be present. If you have not turned in your payment please do so as soon as possible. The checks need to be made to Villa Teresa School and we will make one payment to the PCAA.

The auction efforts are moving right along! We have several contributions – and would enjoy more (smile). Your classroom teacher will have a basket for you to consider. They are: Sr. Mary Frances –Movies; Mary Lewis – Cooking; Angela Hernandez – Chocolate; Lori Payne – Games; Kathleen Turner – Spa; Hope Hernandez  - Gardening; Cassie Herd – computers; Chivonne Lawrence – Summer Fun; Sr. Ha – Photography and pictures; Gwendolyn Hill – Picnic; Mattie Balloon- OU items; Tammy McClary – Scrapbooking; Sr. Loan – Restaurant; Linda Poe – Reading; Marilyn Vann – Barbeque; Library (Sr. Joseph Marie) – Religious/ Inspirational. Since Sister has no classroom, any one who would like to contribute may do so. Ms Nancy Hazelton will also be creating one of her beautiful  Hand Painted Desk and Doll.  We have some really awesome items coming up including a week long trip to Orlando. You can keep up with auction items on our blog, thanks to Michelle Foy. Keep a watch out for:  http://villateresaspringsoiree.blogspot.com

Our Smart Boards will be installed this week – we’re so excited! I also wrote a grant request out last week for an additional contribution so before school starts in fall, we can also add them to our two kindergarten classrooms.

Don’t forget to register for Summer and the Fall Sessions, we have now opened registration to those on the waiting list.

Come see our Science Fair! This Friday, March 28 . On your lunch break would be a great time. The judges will have finished interviewing our second, third and fourth grade students and most of the classes will have seen the exhibits. This is one of our special events and one I look forward to experiencing. All the students do such a fantastic job in researching and presenting what they are studying.

Immersed in Christ (This Easter Season we are moving into the Third Step – Being a Prophet)

INVENTORY: What do you see that needs to be changed – reformed or renewed – in our society? What do you see “the Church” doing about it? YOU are the Church!

Reflect on your “job description” as a Christian.

INPUT: Christians at their baptism were anointed with sacred chrism to carry on the work of Jesus as Prophet, Priest and King. This is what the Spirit empowers us to do – to be Christ, his risen body on earth. We are to continue his mission in our flesh.

Scripture:  Acts 10:32-43; Col 3:1-4; John 20: 1-9

INSIGHT: Have I really given my body without reserve to be the body of the risen Jesus? Do I find this too threatening to deal with? What is the alternative?

INITIATIVE: Begin each day by saying, “Lord, I give you my body. Live this day with me, live this day in me, live this day through me.”

Fr. David Knight is the author and spiritual father of Immersed in Christ and appreciates your reflections and time to become Immersed in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
