Monday Notes

May 12, 2008

Dear Families,

This is our last Monday Notes for the school year, 2007-08. How fast this year went! Thank you for all your support and involvement this past year. May the Lord bless each of you during the upcoming summer months. Many of you we will see throughout the summer – we want everyone to stay in touch. As a matter of fact, mark your calendars for Friday, June 20 – we are having a Kick-off Celebration for our 75th anniversary. It will be a cookout with Bingo, music, bouncy toys, water balloons and lots of other activities. You will receive a flier of information. We already have enrolled for the summer program 188 students. I hope you are on the list!

This summer’s theme is Summer Olympics with emphasis on the host country of China. Arts and Crafts, Discovery class,  P.E., drama, swimming and Friday Entertainment specials will highlight our program. Thanks also to Keith Waken our Cup Scout leader. Cassandra Williams and Tracy George, our Girl Scout leaders.

I want to thank all of you who participated as coaches throughout the school year to help our sport’s program and most especially, Tony Hooper who coordinated all the various sports.

This Tuesday, May 13, is our last PTO meeting. Come meet our newly elected officials. Our Fourth graders will be performing their class play and also our Boy Scouts will receive their special awards.

Thank you for your gracious greetings on my birthday and it was a pleasure to serve you for our two Mothers’ Day Luncheons.

The orders for the yearbook have been extended to this Friday, May 16. Please bring to the office your form with a check for $25.00 and if you are interested in the Baby picture portion an additional $5.00 need to be brought with a cute picture attached. If you have a business and would like to post an ad or sponsor a page or portion of a page, please let Matt Frost know.

Please remember in your prayers the soul of one of our former students, Kim Smith age 22 who died last week.

We’re having a bit of on-line bidding for one of the items that was turned back in – the week long stay in Orlando, Florida. If you are interested please send me your bid and we will give to the highest bidder. Remember the proceeds helps Villa Teresa School.

Our Field Day is today, May 12 and tomorrow, May 13 at the regular P. E. time for the students. We also have Kindergarten graduation on Thursday, May 15 at 10:00 A.M. and on Friday, our 4th Graders will have a ceremony which will involve a tree planting. Their graduation is at 10:00 a.m. followed by a cookout.

As stated in our last letter, our May service project will be a donation to Feed the Children. However, the June project comes up so fast – we would like your consideration to Walk Now for Autism which will be held Saturday, June 7 at the AT and T Bricktown Ballpark. Registration is at 9:00 A.M. and the Walk starts at 10:15 A.M. We want you to join Jimi’s League – Jimi is one of our pre-schoolers. Donations will help research and assistance for those with Autism and their families. IMMERSED IN CHRIST

(EXTENSION OF LAST WEEK’S REFLECTION ON THIS WEEK’S CELEBRATION OF PENTECOST)

Pardon and peace: The essential work of sin is division: separation from God and from other people. The essential work of the Spirit is unity: union with God and with other people. Jesus gives us the call – sign greeting of his resurrection appearances, “Peace be with you, “ he continues: “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them.” The “ministry of reconciliation” is the work of bringing the whole world together in the “peace and unity of the kingdom” Christ came to establish. Every Christian is called to be an evangelizer, a disciple, a witness, a prophet, priest and steward of the kingship of Christ. This is the time to act with confidence in what we pray: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”

May the peace of Christ be with you all. Thanks for sharing your greatest treasure with us at Villa Teresa School, your children.
