Extracurricular Activities
Villa Teresa School offers a variety of activities that keep a child well-rounded and physically and mentally active. Students participate in a physical education program taught by the school P.E. teacher to enhance their physical development.
They enjoy arts and crafts, music and computers. We have sports, martial arts and dance programs. We offer year round school activities for all of our students. Activities are grade-level appropriate and geared to a relaxed learning environment.
In the summer, students enjoy academics, arts and crafts, physical education and swimming.
Teachers plan thematic units to enhance student learning. Students experience a “hands on” approach to learning through field trips. Students enjoy outdoor activities and the opportunity to build camaraderie among friends.
The school hosts organizations such as the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
Service Projects
Villa Teresa students learn to care for others, in addition to daily prayer together with their teachers, students participate in social service projects helping them to remember the needs of others. Weekly, each class is assigned cards to design for patients at St. Anthony Hospital, Good Shepherd Hospice and Sacks for lunches for the homeless.
Each month is devoted to a particular project - in September - loose change is collected for Positive Tomorrows (a school for homeless children). October features Red Ribbon Week which allows the opportunity to collect money for a child at the Children's Center who may be affected by drugs. In November and December, the children bring food and toys for children at Little Flower parish. Actually, those in Kindergarten through fourth grade also continue the food drive by bringing cans of food when a library book is forgotten. In January, we collect baby items for those who are served by the organization, BirthChoice. In February, our students participate in the American Heart Association's Jump for Heart. March and April helps us practice our math and bike riding skills to donate for St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis. Donations are collected also for Feed the Children. We have also started working with the Autism Speaks organization.
Athletics
Villa Teresa students experience teamwork and self-discipline through their participation in soccer, basketball, track, baseball and softball. Our school is a member of the Catholic Grade School Athletic Association.
