Monday Notes
February 8, 2010

Dear Families,

Greetings! We are hoping for a ‘normal’ week – but wasn’t last week a blast! We offer thanks to our fantastic committee who planned Catholic Schools Week – Katherine Payne, Sr. Mary Frances, Tammy Valentour, Joyce Holder and Jeanie Ciupak. We really enjoyed each day!

Representatives from Birth Choice will pick up your donated baby items today or tomorrow – they are in for a surprise! Thanks so much for your generous hearts.

Tomorrow is PTO meeting from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. and following is the committee meeting for our Soiree (Dinner Auction which will be held April 24). We hope to have a lot of volunteers coming in. Our Kindergarteners will be entertaining our PTO attendants.

Last week, we sent home registration papers. Registration for in-house students for summer and next fall begins February 12. Please make sure you are current in payment before registering.

We have a couple of additions to our calendar for February. Tomorrow morning, we are having our January Cooperating Hearts Awards ceremony since we were out due to inclement weather the last Friday of January. We hope the weather cooperates this time. The other addition is Dental Screening on February 25. There will be a short presentation on how to take care of one’s teeth. Permission slips were distributed last week.

You are always invited to our Masses. This Friday, we welcome Fr. Jim Goin from Chickasha. The Mass is at 9:00 a.m.

Just as a reminder, the teachers have an Archdiocesan Inservice next Monday, February 15. There will be no school or daycare.

Since Valentines’ Day is Sunday (also Vietnamese New Year’s), some classes are having parties on Friday and some combining with Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 16. It’s hard to believe that Lent starts Wednesday. Our prayer service is at 9:00 a.m. on Ash Wednesday.

Please remember that school closings are announced through the television service. Calling the school or convent will block efforts to contact staff members some whom come really early in the mornings. Because notifying the radio and televisions stations still has some kinks, I will also be e-mailing those of you who have e-mails. The best option is to watch the section on school closings on television or on your computer.

Immersed in Christ (Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Accepting the call to Evangelize)

INVENTORY: Do you feel called to evangelize? Have you an awareness of being called personally, by Jesus himself? Do you think you are not good enough for this?

INPUT: We ask God to ‘watch over’ us as His ‘family’. We declare our ‘hope’ in him, based on ‘faith and love’. Our faith tells us god is not just ‘the Lord our God.’ He is our Father. This changes the kind of hope and love we have. We are members of God’s family. We feel at home with him. When we are in ‘our Father’s house’ we go about ‘our Father’s affairs’ as his children. We are not servants or guests.

Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11; Luke 5:1-11

INSIGHT: When you judge yourself unworthy of evangelizing, what are you forgetting?

INITIATIVE: Make an inventory of what you know about the Good News that you can share.

Please let me know if you are interested in the Wednesday Prayer hour at lunch time – bring your lunch. It’s a wonderful way to have a moment of quiet prayer and reflection – sharing the Faith that is such a gift to us.
